Getting a host student/contact person

Global Friends tries to arrange a Swedish host student/contact person for all exchange students that wish so. The host student usually meets you at the day of your arrival and shows you to your housing. If possible, the host student will also pick up your key from University Accommodation Centre (UAC) in advance. You can also feel free to contact him/her for any questions that arise during your stay.
If we find a contact person, he/she should usually contact you 1-2 weeks before your arrival to decide a time and place to meet. Usually you will meet at the Central Station/City Terminal in Stockholm City. Our Contact person Coordinator or the contact person may send you a description of how to get from the airport to Central Station/City Terminal. Check also ARRIVAL AND ACCOMMODATION on this homepage.
Since there are a lot of exchange students coming to the Karolinska Institute, especially right before school starts; we cannot guarantee you a host student meeting you at the day of your arrival. We hope you will be indulgent with this. Either you arrive before the semester starts or after, chances will be greater to find a free contact person if you arrive not too early in the morning or too late at night. Once the semester has started it may also be easier to find you a host student if your plane arrives in the afternoon or evening rather than during school hours. The sooner we know about the details of your flight (time of arrival, what airport and flight number) the easier for us to start looking for a contact person.
