Biomedicine programme T5
My name is Arjang Baygan and I am currently on my fifth semester of the biomedicine bachelor's programme.
I wish to apply since I fear that the 'representatives' have become more politicians than students. If I get elected into FUM, I will do everything I can to make sure that FUM becomes a minimalistic expression of the student union at Karolinska Institutet. Students at KI no longer have to pay a fee to the student union and while I ultimately do think the union should stay, I also at the same time feel everything student union related needs to be downsized and minimized.
If this does not happen I believe the representatives will abuse their power. A power, which they only have because the student body allows it.
I have a multitude of reasons to feel the way I do and they can all be summarized in one sentence; applying for any kind of work within the student union at Karolinska Institutet in order to gain any form of credit should not be possible.
The multitude of reasons could easily be summarized into one opinion since everyone I've talked to that does union related work does it with the aim of gaining a merit.
Voluntary work should not be a means of fattening your CV.
