About Solvik - FAQ
How many can stay at Solvik?
There are 24 beds, 4 couches, 1 hammock and a lot of floor space. The kitchen, bathrooms and dining areas are fit for up to 30 people. More than that is not recommended.
Are animals allowed at Solvik?
No. Animals are not allowed at Solvik out of consideration for hypersensitive people. Solvik should be a place where everybody can be.
Is there a sauna?
Normally, yes. However, the previous one was burnt down during 2010. Hopefully a new one will be built soon.
Can one drink the water?
Yes, the water is completely safe. We regularly send samples in for testing. However, some think it tastes a bit strange. This is not noticeable in e.g. food or coffee.
Is there a grill?
Yes, there are two well used kettle grills and one grill area.
How do I get there?
For directions, se the tab in the menu on the right.
Is there a fireplace?
Yes. In the large cabin there is a fireplace by the couches. There is also a fireplace in the gazebo. Fires can be lit in both. The tiled stove in the large cabin is not to be used.
Is it possible to go swimming?
Absolutely. There is a floating jetty and lifebuoys at the large cabin as well as the sauna. Both jetties have a ladder.
Where can I buy groceries nearby?
Värmdö marknad covers most needs (7 min drive), for example Coop Forum and Jet. There is a systembolag, pharmacy, and a pizzeria at Gustavsbergs centrum (10 min drive).
Is there firewood there?
No, you have to bring firewood yourself. We suggest buying it at a gas station (the nearest is Statoil in Brunn). There is a saw and an axe by the front door in the kitchen.
Is there a sound system?
Yes. In the large cabin there is a CD-player, amplifier, and two wall mounted speakers. There is cable (3.5 mm stereo plug) for plugging in a computer, mp3 player, cell phone etc. Internet connection through cell phone or mobile internet typically works well.
