How often do I pay my student union fee?
The student union fee should be paid every semester. Please note that Medicinska Föreningen sends an electronic advice to your KI-mail at the beginning of every semester.

When is the last payment day?
The last payment day for the autumn of 2009 is September 30. If you have not paid by September 30 (or by the due date of your advice) an additional fee of 100 kr is added.
I have moved, should I submit a change of address notification?
Yes! Notify both Karolinska Institutet and the national registration (folkbokföring) of any change of address. This is very important for the Mecenat card to be sent to the correct address. If you have forgotten to submit a change of address notification before paying the student union fee, it is possible that the Mecenat card has been sent to the wrong address, and is returned to Medicinska Föreningen. If you suspect that this has happened, please contact the union office.
Do I have to have paid the union fee to be able to participate in a course?
You do not have to have paid the union fee to enlist the course or get student grants. However, you have to have paid it to receive any credits for the course. If you have not received any form of advice or bill within 30 day after the start of the course, you should contact the union office.
I have received a bill even though I am not studying. What do I do?
The letter sent before the semester is based on students that are expected to study at Karolinska Institutet. This means that if you are on a gap year or similar you will get a student union bill. Contact the union office and we will help you cancel the bill.
It can also be that you received a bill even though you belong to another student union at Karolinska Institutet. This could mean that you are in the wrong Student Union and that students studying your course have Medicinska Föreningen as their student union. In that case pay the bill and inform the other student union that you are taking a course that requires you to be a member of Medicinska Föreningen. In some cases it can also be that Karolinska Institutet has mistakenly marked your course as a part of Medicinska Föreningen. In this case contact the union office and we will help you cancel the bill.
I have not received a bill even though I am a student. What do I do?
We send out union fees to all students that have been admitted to Karolinska Institutet and members from the previous semester. If you have not received a bill, even though you are suppose to study it could be because we do not have your address or that you were admitted directly or late. Contact the union office to receive a bill. Admit name, address, social security number, e-mail address and course/study program.
There is a mistake on my bill for this semester! What do I do?
If you have received an incorrect bill, you should contact the union office to get a new bill. If your name misspelled on the bill, you have to show personal identification. If we have written the wrong address, you should make sure that the new address is submitted to the union registry.
What happens if I forget to pay my union fee?
We do a check up during the semester to see if you have paid the union fee. If you have forgotten, we will send a new notice with 100 kr added. If you have not paid the union fee, you will not be able to get any credits registered in LADOK or in your degree certificate. For any further questions, please contact the union office.

Registration fee: 150 kr (an onetime fee you pay during your first semester at Karolinska Institutet)
1-14 credits (HP): Full union fee for the current semester is 320 kr. You can apply for a reduced union fee later, read more here.
15-30 credits (HP): Full union fee 320 kr.
The easiest way to pay is via internet. Here you can pay the Union fee directly with your VISA or Mastercard.
You can also get an OCR-number if you prefer to pay through your internetbank.
You can also pay at the union office, but do note that an additional transaction fee of 50 kr is added. Remember that there can be a long line!
About three weeks after you have registered and payed your union fee your Mecenat card will be sent to the address povided during payment. Youe Mecenat card is your student- and union identification, which you have to bring with you to examinations.
